Here is an illo for a local artist who is doing some web work for the owner of a catering business. This is a conceptual sketch for a logo design. I realize logos need to be simple and minimal, but that's just not my deal. I leave that for the graphic fellas. This started out as a plain line drawing- and I'm done. But noooo! I just had to ad the colors. He He!!

Fly Deck Instructions

This is the back panel of the packaging for this product. I developed and wrote these instructions based on input from the client, as well as input from my son while he assembled the product. Production is currently under way, and hopefully you'll see one of these at your local skate shop soon. Layout and design done in AI. I used product photos as templates to illustrate the assemblys.

This is an ad for The Jenna an Patrick Foundation that was placed in Sacramento Magazine. The image was also used for a billboard ad in Land Park Sacramento, Ca. where the event took place. This was a simple design, done with AI.

Mid Day Fire

Here is an illustration I did for a local indy publication. It's nice to do something other than mechanical for a change. I havn't posted on this site for about a year. Wow! I've got other things for this site, that need to be uploaded, so I'll see what I can do.

WEIGHT

This was done for the Six Sigma Blog. I wrote a little story about the subject, and needed some support artwork. So I decided to make the job fun, by seeing if I could represent weight well. I wanted him to look tired, and weighed down. Hope you like it, and check out the story for this pic on the other blog.

Prosper Magazine

I'm finally getting going on this blog. I wanted to post a proof of an upcoming article in Prosper Magazine (Jan-07) where yours truly, has an illustration. Yup, that's my handiwork. Those guys at prosper are real easy to work with. Scott, the AD, has a unique way of seeing things, and it usually makes sense. He's an artist himself, so he knows how to put things in an "artist's format"- if that makes sense? Anyway, it was a lot of fun, and I hope I can work with them again real soon. "Pssst! Hey Scott-need anymore art?"

NEW BEGININGS

Well, here we go. I just opened this blog in order to track my new life as a freelance illustrator. This is all new and exciting to me, so I thought I'd keep a log of what's going on.

I have been drawing stuff all my life, and have been pretty good at it. However, like most artists, I've been taking my talents for granted. I would draw things from cartoons to logos for people, with out a thought of why I am constantly asked to do so. Drawing has never been difficult for me, so I just assumed it was easy for everyone else as well. So if everybody else could do it, then there would be no possible way I could work as an artist for a living; there is just too much competition. I realize now how ridiculous this is, but for a person, like me, who had never explored the possibilities for becoming a professional artist, this self-defeatist type attitude was a perfect fit.

Now, thanks to my family for encouraging me to try, I am finally putting my work out there. Thanks especially to SNO, for teaching me the way the industry really works. I may not ever be able to quit my day job, and make art my sole profession, but everything I put ink to paper, I feel like I am doing what I was born to do.
